Back Where We Belong

It was late summer, 2007 to be exact
I will never forget that night
Nor that year
I had just purchased tickets
To a 70's concert tour featuring
None other than Earth, Wind and Fire
And there he was
A man from my past
A man I had forced myself to forget
When he touched me
All those old feelings resurfaced
And, all those old memories came flooding back
Like water gushing out of a well
I wanted desperately to tell him
How badly he had hurt me
All those years ago
When he had suddenly said goodbye
But the words remained unspoken
Stuck in my throat, like dry powder
As we conversed, I could feel his masculinity
The scent of his Michael Jordan musk
Assailing my nostrils
And bringing me into his captivity
Right where he wanted me to be
Oh yes, it was true
I was still mesmerized by his charms
And, before I knew anything
I was in his arms, feeling his kiss
And when he asked me for a second chance
A small part of me wanted to say 'no'
But against my better judgment
I accepted his advances
His sheer presence proving to be
Much too powerful for my vulnerabilities
However, this time was different
He really proved his love for me
Keeping all his promises
And neither of us has looked back since
