My body is a "prodigy" and sold on a shelf
A Barbie in a plastic box for $5.99
There's a trillion in productionΒ
You'll forget my reason when the newest model replaces me
I'm nothing special,
Though glamorous, preppy, beautiful,
I am nothing important, Cheap, tear me apart, put me back together,Β
Plastic Heart, Silicone chest,Β
Predictable phrases from a Double-A speaker Β
Controlled, forced to pretend to be, act out the drama's part,
Among the thousands of dolls that I am just like,
I know I am just a way to entertain for a short while,
Gorgeous fabrics decorating my skin make for a model,
A low-grade Cover Girl,
the children's words which substitute for my glued lips,
Ring through my ears,
No mind of my own, owned, controlled, manipulated,
What anyone, will give to have the body of a Barbie...
Yet what I would give to have the freedom of mind,
The life of a model is to stand pretty, never speak,
Yet what is the point if a voice is never given to the body?Β
Oh what the people
Will give to be a Barbie
Yet what I would giveΒ
To be with humanity.Β

This is aΒ FANTASTIC piece of poetry DEVYN!!......taking beauty and placing it inside out upon the shelf.....reversing societal views on beauty's conceptual ideology delivered through mainstream media and shoving it down the throats of the ad agencies and clothing designers "backwards thinking" on what looks good ......when we all know that there can be no price tag placed on individuality or the glow and radiance that comes from within a person......."Yet what is the point if a voice is never given to the body?"......some great phrasing here my friend......I obviously haveΒ not read enough of your stuff sweetΒ poetess!!.......because this is the kind of poetry "well worth" the time to take time out of the day....pause.....and reflect upon.....you've done this site a great service........ALL STARS.....PINNED!!........excellent write my friend!!.......LOVE and ROCKETS!!.......your cyber-friend and admirer.......T xoΒ Β ?
