Baseball................................................................dedicated to Zayn
Timing the skip of a grounder,
Anticipating a rocket line drive!
High fly ball I'm camping under,
The double play that keeps us alive!
Their pitcher delivers a slider,
Then comes with an arching curve.
The ump seems to make the plate wider!
Teasing me to loose my nerve.
A crack! I've hit a double!
And reached scoring position.
Their pitcher seems to be in trouble,
My threat causes indecision.
A balk, I move to third,
The pressure is on his face!
The manager is out for a word,
He has to remove his ace.
Our clean up has arrived,
His homer wins the game!
Our season has been revived!
That pitcher will never be the same.

thank you Jill for the support!

Lots of energy in this right Jim. In the U.K. we don’t tend to do baseball. We have a mediocre version that’s called rounders. But it isn’t a big game like baseball in America. However I felt the love for this game in every word. You are always so good a narrative writingÂ

Jim you'll be pleased to know, you never strike out in your writing!
A super write brimming with energy and gutso.
And you'll hopefully be pleased to know we have local baseball teams here in Wales, though our bats are flat surfaced and not rounded like your American ones.
Our bowler or pitcher as you would say, bowls underarm never overarm.
And our fielders use bare hands to catch that hard hitting baseball, with many a crocked finger afterwards!!
Thanks for sharing Jim and for also something enlightening.
Full honours and a golden glove too!
