Battle Cry

While the blood, ash and soot rained from the sky,
The men were out in battle, screaming out a battle cry.
So many they’d lost, it happened too quickly, too soon.
But hundreds more died that afternoon.

Thousands of poppies drowned the fields in red,
A remembrance of those who had died,
A remembrance of those who had bled.

Soldiers paused to take one final look,
At the people they’d lost,
The lives God had took.

Tears were shed as they continued to remember,
The people that had passed on the 11th November.
On the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month.

Hi Eden Northover

Good write, thanks for sharing, my applause, my vote
