Battle on the Horizonal Front

Battle on the Horizonal Front

Darkness. It consumes me.

But there is no light in my small, wet corner of the world, save for the Sun on His return journey.

For there is no light where there is no land.
The cold black sea reaches up to the sky like two dense lovers kissing in solid midnight.

But wait! Sparks that dance upon each lover's lips.
A tentative hand that reaches from the horizon,
A ray of hope reveals itself.

Fear is about me now, but not my own.
It festers in the night.
Each ray of white light, the night doth fight.
But in vain.
Empowered, the Sun bursts over the skyline.

And here, the day's first rays are mine.

The dark now flees combat so swiftly in terror.
For it is now behind me, the day is in front.
The Sun lights up every candle of the sea,
Every spark in each wave
Like stars of the day.

And I'm blinking like a newborn in the new sunlight,
The Sun and I, life-giver and child,
One moment in time
Before we both take flight.

Me to the sea and Him to the night
As their endless chase,
Everlasting conflict,
Continues to bear the human race.

Both deep, both glimmer,
