BEAST AND THE MAN

BEAST AND THE MAN

A DREAM OF PERVERSION

I stepped onto the sand from my skiff

and the jungle spawned against the ocean shore

Not deprived of sound

birds chirping over their echoes allured me in

and the enchanted forest faded in.

Exploring the inner me

I had waited to find in this sleeping dream

disconnected from the city landscape

and the buzzing sound of continuous traffic.

I sweated in the leather chair

and my head was warming from the lamp.

Beads of sweat gently rolled down my arm

and found its way into an ashtray.

Already deep in the jungle

I heard the roar of large beasts unidentified.

The remote program burst on the TV

just when I was tossed to the muddy ground.

A Gorilla tried to rape me.

Bestiality, ancient Rome and the peasantry

of a perverted time, I dreamt.

When I awoke I called my psychologist.

When she picked up I hung up.

I remembered how she went on about her dog

and how they could replace a man.
