Beaten To Death

Promises were made and promises were broken..
  Hurtful words is all that was spoken..
Excuses were made so he wasn't to blame..
  Her head held down with pitty and shame..
So many bruises she kept covered to hide..
  She was so afraid she couldn't leave even though she tried..
Family and friends, none of them knew..
  Year after year, weaker she grew..
She screamed and yelled as she begged him to quit..
  He walked away after one last hit..
Lying on the floor she just softly cried..
  With peace in her eyes, she took her last breath and happily died..
