BEAUTIFUL GIRL

Her eyes the windows to her soul
Pulled up a seat;Â took in the view
But through the curtains of her mind
A vision of blue hue
Not what I’d expected
She wore a smile upon her face
Like a mask that blanked out all the light
A sadness it encased
The curtains slightly open
I peered further in to see
Exactly what was in her mind
What could her misery be
But there just past the drapes
With great surprise and shock
Was a weighted wall so heavy
The view it did now block
Couldn’t see what was past
Those beautiful big sad eyes
A myriad of brickwork
Cemented with pain and lies
This wall had been a barrier
The perfect place to hide
Her face was like a canvas
To hide the cracks inside
So I sat a little longer
Contemplated what to do
Knew I had to break these walls
Free her from the prison she knew
Staring deep into her soul
Gazing in those pools of blue
Mesmerized and taken
Fearing what may now ensue
But I forged past all her beauty
Past the painting so divine
And took a hammer to that wall
Knocked the bricks down; line by line
The blows made her mind shake
She now struggled to stand firm
Clung on to those bricks so hard
Her feelings made her squirm
She was scared to go and see
What this view may now expose
The walls were now destroyed
The threat it would now pose
Didn’t want to see inside
What had sat behind these walls
For years that had been hidden
Blocked off all her fears and flaws
I held my hand out to her
Hoped she’d do the same to me
So I could lead her through her thoughts
And see the inner beauty I did see
And as I led her through the maze
Of her inner soul and mind
Embraced her faults and insecurities
Played her life in slow rewind
Showed her how she’d reached this place
Helped her find her inner peace
Removed the rubble from her thoughts
So her feelings she’d release
After time and after patience
This beauty found her way
Knocking down those stubborn walls
That had kept her heart at bay
Now her eyes; the windows to her soul
Have such a different view
And through the curtains of her mind
A vision of all I knew
Just what I had expected
There was happiness inside
Such peace and inner beauty
And her smile she wore with pride .......

Hi Rachael you and your poem have style. I love it as it is because it kept me guessing to the very end. And then you repeated a line or two that kind of told me there might never be a true ending. Good one.
