DESTINATION HEARTACHE

DESTINATION HEARTACHE

Did we meet or were we found?
two floating ships at sea
so BIG in our vast playground
yet so lost
yearned to be free
Drifting in life's ocean
Murky waters that run deep
            Flailing
            Struggling
            Contemplating

Where our lives should be

Are we living?
Just surviving
Truth now clouded by the mist
Empty vessels sinking deeper
Deep to the abyss
A vicious angry swell
Unforgiving in the drag
            Inevitable
            Responsible
            Making lives a living hell

It swallows you and takes you now
down into the depths
submerged amongst the questions
of where you're going next

Do you swim towards the distant shore?
See promise
Future hope
Or do you stop just treading water
of past dreams that now elope
Where's this land of wondrous fortune
That once you started out
            Looking
            Searching
            Contemplating

A mind now full of doubt

This vessel that once carried you
Your beauty,
once so cherished
Dismissed within the bitterness
            Forgotten
            Wasted
            Perished

A sunken battle ship
That no longer fights the war
Not armoured with the hardware
To battle here no more

The sea it takes it's victim
Swallowed up into the depths
Never to be seen again
Just another lonely wreck
