RAINBOWS

A fluorescent, iridescent, enlightening rainbow of hope that once soared high above the backdrop of green lush life for many has now dispersed,
Fragmented into tears of moisture amongst the grey damp clouds that loom so imposingly over this beautiful, peaceful stage.
Magical, colourful, ore inspiring arcs of possibility,
a pathway that leads us to our hearts’ desire; allows us to feel hope; to believe in happy ever afters, evoking a small ray of light in our lives in this dreary world that all too often suffocates us in a smog of despair
..... are fast becoming a figment of our imagination.
No more rainbows, no more dreams, no more pot of gold.
Ruby slippers are a story of myth,
Fortuitous sparkles of made-up finery that are about as tangible as the fog in which the wicked witch vanishes into a puff of smoke.
No fast track to the Emerald City, or meeting your friend ‘tin man’ along the way,
That yellow brick road has more cracks in its concrete pathway than crazy paving, yet along we skip, stumbling and falling at every hurdle.
Why?
For that proverbial pot of gold we all seek. not for monetary gain, .. but a happiness we all desire.
Rainbows, .... not just one of natures’ beautiful scientific wonders,
It’s a purpose for us all to have, ... a goal to reach for, .... hope in a world that is so full of disappointment and despondency.
So when you look up to those looming dark clouds that seem to hang ever present above our weary heads, accept that through all that darkness will come rain,
put up your umbrella, weather the storm, and when the sunshine comes, ...... look up and breathe in your life.
For there in your ‘now’ ‘cup half-full’ mentality you will finally see that illusive rainbow appear.

Hi Blossom great poem lots of
positivity at the end liked that you used
the Wizard of Oz as an analogy for life
Really enjoyed... Best wishes Debs
Hi deborah, glad that you enjoyed reading. Always loved that song 'Somewhere over the rainbow' from the wizard of oz. One of my favourite of all time, especially the version by Eva Cassidy. Think we all need to believe in rainbows :)
Just an amazing write.
Best wishes ! :)
Always appreciated Richard ! Hope you are well :)
Hi Blossom,
Yes, the road to Oz has become impassable. Felled trees, raging rivers, stormy seas, poisoned airs. Emerald green turned to ozone gray. No more glorious rainbows. No more pot of gold. I'm not sure the umbrellas can withstand the onslaught. Excellent write.
Peace and Love,
xox Larry
