BEEN AWAY AND COMING BACK

BEEN AWAY AND COMING BACK

I've been away from my city far too long
I can't decide if that is right or wrong
Things have changed that were not here before
Like the post office and general store

Life moves on it's a constant change
Some people embrace it others find it strange
I prefer things as they were and just the same
What was there before is no more and such a shame

Shops and buildings that were part of my youth
All taken down a sad reflection of the truth
What will happen to my city in future years?
Barely recognisable I think through a sea of tears

Very relatable.  I too no longer live where I grew up.  Now whenever I visit what used to be my home, it's changed so much, it's not the place I once knew.

So true Kieran. When I visited my home town all the haunts of my youth had been demolished and rebuilt with some modern monstrosity. Change is not always for the better. DD x
