Before the snows came

Before the snows came

I fell in love too quickly
Mea Culpa, it was my fault
The strange heat of the winter day.
a small gift from nature.

I took it to be a whole summer.
I see the Monarch Butterfly
fooled as I was.

resting in the winter's brush
basking in the long forgotten sunshine
living its life in a single day.
just as I did with you, my love.
before the snows came.
