Poem -

Before we Live Again

Voices

Burned and buried

Ashes scattered in plain unadorned sight

Left cold and

Washed away by the wind

Voices

long forgotten

was once close by the heart

Voices

echelons of the soul

The very breath of life

Lost;

never found

Voices

Silenced in grand conspiracy

By the soldier's bullet

At the president's command

And the masses' silence

Voices

Mocking us

With dead shrunken eyes

Now

Before we live again

We chant the incantations

Beat the drums

Dance the dance of the dead

Offer a thousand burnt offerings

At

the altar of the known

And the unknown

Before we live again

We must travel

To?

The land of the spirits

Crossing seven rivers

Seven deserts

Seven forests

At

the dead of the night

Into the unknown

To?

Gather the scattered ashes

To?

Scatter roses

Beautiful roses

Along the path

To?

Placate voices

And?

Hope that we will finally find it

Before we live again?
