Poem -

Enemy Lines

You asked me to be beautiful:
which was herculean
I have believed so much in ugliness
Which was complex
And complex was my idea of positivity, idea of beauty
Then you came
For cupid was very partial
I became pretty
You said it was fake
I agreed
You asked me to bear kids
I did
You said they were all girls
Being twisted by cupid's arrow
I nodded
You asked me to eat
For Skinny was nibbling away my nonexistent beauty
I did
You said I looked fat
I agreed
Then I complained
You said the devil wears me
You sent me to church
I needed to vent so I went
Screamed my lungs out at the sanctuary
I decided to send you away
By the time I came back,
You have made you at home
Drilling at my backyard
My girls excitedly running attendance to you
Drawing lasting lines between you and me
And I
Have turned to the enemy
