Poem -

Behind the Shadows of Your Eyes

Stepping over this broken glass,
the shattered mirrors of my life,
reflecting goodies left unsold,
I gladly give them up to rise
behind the shadows of your eyes.

Watching dreamers go by and moan,
see them mooching in their daze,
let them have their world, I have mine,
it spins about in those blue skies,
behind the shadows of your eyes.

Bathing deep in a sea of light,
a thousand dancing suns have I
to brighten up your passing tides,
see, there, it’s us, two fireflies,
behind the shadows of your eyes.

I think this has such an intimacy about it. Sad yet a true sensation of kinship between two souls. Loved those last lines especially
“two fireflies,
behind the shadows of your eyes.”
Beautiful writing. Loved the emphases with the repeated line x
