Being Yourself

Someone sings to me in my sleep
An ancient voice, unknown to thee
Speak to me, hear me out
I know what is hiding deep inside
Deep in the shadows in the dead of the night
Crawling beneath all the darkest lights
Hear it crawl, it scarps the floor
Hear it scream, hear it scorn
It walks in your shadow forever more
Don’t deny it because it’s part of you
It is who you are
The dark is light, the light is dark
I understand how it feels
Being pulled in separate ways, being pride apart
It feels like your ripping out your soul
Everyone has a dark side as well as a good one
No one is perfect, no one’s pure
We all have our flaws, our bumps and bruises
We look inside ourselves searching for a purpose
A purpose that no one knows
Do we know that such a purpose exists?
