BETRAYAL (explicit language)

BETRAYAL (explicit language)

A woman who is clearly betrayed, is quite a sight to behold
All that passion that was before, suddenly turned stone cold
Not revealing much emotion, the wolf now inside the sheep
Playing her role as ever before, not showing the pain that goes deep
She imagines what he is doing while he is away with the ā€˜other’
She watches him quietly while he sleeps, this face she now wants to smother
Stop him from breathing just once, so he cannot hurt her any longer
Yet this is the man she once loved, her hate still needs to grow stronger
Revenge is now more important to her than anything gone before
She also blames the woman; in her mind she calls her ā€˜a whore’
This cunt who simply took over from where she left off for a while
Bringing up kids and supporting, this man who has now turned so vile
Her need for justice is great, to bring them both down one by one
Yet his face so clear in her children, when she looks at her daughter and son
Even harder to forgive or forget this betrayal of her and her kin
With the most basic of instincts, committing this original sin
His mind left behind in his ecstasy, while he fucks and ruts to his content
She imagines all the scenarios, while her disgust just grows more intent
He is now no longer handsome, has become even rather pathetic
Yet she keeps up her wifely pretence, while her smile remains enigmatic
Swear words she calls him silently, like ā€˜arsehole, wanker and fucker’
And when she does think of her she has simply become the ā€˜cocksucker’
She nearly enjoys this new power with secrets she now knows of him
His lies and deceit his undoing, her cup of hatred filled to the brim
All that love now turned quite sour, the love that once was so strong
Now becoming something destructive, despite her knowing it’s wrong
Even her children quite anxious, about what this could bring to them
To them all, this incredible fury, that’s beyond her control to stem
So the day arrives when he needs to leave, get out of their lives and go
Go live with the bitch that got him in heat and brought her down to this low
And so it soars to a conclusion, as the drama does unfold
Every story has an ending, as through history we’ve been told
Whether good, bad or indifferent watching her is what matters
as she recovers some semblance of life, where it once was left in tatters
Rising up from sordid ashes, gasping for fresh, honest air
Hoping she will rise and escape from this pit that was her despair
Her anger slowly abating as time does its usual healing
Restores a sense of worthiness and gives her back her feeling
This man she will never trust again, that’s been her lesson and learned
Men will be more examined and her fingers never again burnt
Cynicism is now part of her being, sad to see innocence lost for good
A certain bitterness has been added to the daily intake of her food

Brilliant!
I can't relate to it myself but I do know people who have been in that situation.

Yes, these things happen and of course it is sad for everyone. I could only write from a woman's perspective. Thank you for your comment. Much appreciated.

I worshiped the ground my wife walked on, Patricia.
There wasn't a day that went by when I didn't tell her, "I love you, babe." Because, let's face it, in the world we live in today anything can happen and we may never get another chance.
And, just like that old Brooks & Dunn tune I would stop by the road where the wild flowers grew and pick a few. But she didn't tell me to.
Still, I got diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and she left me for a much younger man after 22 years of marriage. Her mom had just died and she said she couldn't bear to stay a watch me die as well.
How's that for gratitude?
Needless to say, I have very little use for love, marriage, or anything associated with them.
Sex with no strings attached is just fine by me. That's all we ever really need anyhow.
If I need love—unbiased, unconditional love—I'll cuddle with my Chihuahua, Gidget.
Nicely penned. I realize we all have diversely differing opinions on this topic and no two people feel exactly the same way.
I just offered you my own.

Wow, thank you for sharing that with me and I am sorry to hear that. At 60 I now also feel quite happy to just have a male friend with benefits, let's say. And when I need love, I go and see my children and grandchildren. I have nothing but love for life and no bitterness and I hope you do too. You sound like a very lovely man any woman will be happy to spend her time with.Ā

My poetry's kinda creepy, Patricia.
But I'm a pretty laid back, quiet sorta guy who's well grounded. I get all of my aggression out in my writing, lol.
You're very welcome.

Thank you and I totally agree with you. I personally have not gone through this but felt it clearly through observing others. Both men and women but could only write from a woman's perspective. I appreciate your words.Ā
