BETRAYAL- THE KISS OF DEATH

Nothing in life
Inflicts such pain 
As the jaws of betrayal 
And the deceitful lips of a trusted friend 

The one I've laid bare my soul to 
With confidence that my tearful heart 
Would be protected and comforted 

But like a cow that chews its cud 
Every secret that graced his ear 
Every painful experience I feared
He has regurgitated 
Then spewed into thin air
Leaving me hollow as clouds 
Without rain

I could rebuild my life if it falls apart 
But how can I survive the dagger of betrayal 
Those poisonous words from my trusted friend 
As he embraces me with love
While he stabs me continuously 
In my broken heart.
