Better be Lonely then Hurt

It’s not true 
I am not trying to be smart
Its not a choice 
That I am building a wall around me
And don’t let anyone see-
See the parts of me that make me weak-
Or that makes me cry

For they always laughed at me 
Laughed at my scars that have remain in silence 
I know that it’s a battle we all have to fight
A war that will never end 
But rather then letting a person in my life
I am just protecting myself this time 
For because it easier to understand loneliness better then to get hurt
Then the pains that aches each time someone leaves
Or the sourness I can taste every time they look at me
