BEYOND THE TEMPLE WALLS

Beyond the temple walls-
My flesh and bone
My mind and my soul-
Make me rise from the dead
I do not come alone-
My brothers and sisters-
Our mothers and fathers
Do we dare to love Black?
"Can't we all just get along?"
I wish it were that easy
Who you tried to brainwash-
Have taken our minds back
Beyond the temple walls-
Come, Rastafarians
From Ethiopian churches-
A Black God, King and Father
A Black Goddess, Queen and Mother-
Where is She in your Bible?
Soul rebels and spiritual revolutionaries-
Crucifixion in Jerusalem- Resurrection in Egypt
Told you I was Christian-
But not like the Romans
Don't you recognize your brother?
Am I not the Dark Star?
Beyond the temple walls-
Speak of roots and culture
Red, black, green and gold-
Pledge allegiance to our flag
Black boys and girls return-
You are the children of Kush
They no longer trust-
All the scribes and pharisees
It's like we were blind-
And tried to explain beauty-
By the way that it feels
It's a matter of faith
