Big Sister

"I am going to be a big sister?" I said to my mommy,
The day I found out she was having a baby!
She sat me down and said "Listen to me"
"This baby can't be ours, she has a bigger destiny!"

Just seven years old so I couldn't see,
Why this baby couldn't be apart of OUR family!
My mommy looked at me with tears in her eyes,
She said to me softly "Please baby, don't cry!"

I found a loving couple who will raise her as their own,
So for now my sweet child we must leave them alone!
They promised me they would give her a better life so be glad,
But for now my sweet child, 
Please don't be mad!

Mommy knows what she is doing,
It's a hard choice YES!!
But trust me when I tell you,
It is all for the best!

As she told me your name, it rang in my ear!
" Her name will be Laura, never forget that you hear!"
Many years have gone by with memories unshared,
But trust me little sister, in our hearts you were ALWAYS there!

So waiting was the game that we played,
But for me in my head all i saw was that day!
I couldn't wait to hug you and see you smile,
And feel like this waiting was all worthwhile!

17 years I waited patiently,
And then there you were right in front of me,
Like an angel sent from above,
All i could do was cry and give you a big hug!

Nothing but tears fell down my face,
This whole in my heart you have replaced.
This is my promise, don't worry you'll see!
To be the big sister you've always dreamed of,
And i have always wanted to be!
