Boat Trip At Ushuaia
(on 20 February 2020)
06.00
Cape Horn crack of dawn, half-hid
sun’s golden brightness sheepish-seeps
through canopy of dark-grey clouds.
Seen from hotel Beagle Channel,
separating Argentina from Chile, smooth
as baby’s bottom peaceful rests.Â
To east, mountain peaks peek through
weighty load of grey-black clouds and mist,
slow-budged by gentle breeze from west.
09.00.
Sun shows its face.
It is a good day.
A good day for a boat trip
at Ushuaia;
trip-tripping from shore to islet-shore
to see huffing-puffing giant sea lions roar,
great-petrels flop and swim for food
and black-browed albatrosses swoop
and dive to grab, or snatch, from other birds,
carrion, crustaceans, offal, fish and squid,
Whilst small birds, striving to stay alive,
play hide-and-seek with their predators.
13.00.
Sun in transit.
It was a good day.
A good day for a boat trip
at Ushuaia.

Oooh I do like this poem! The words paint a vivid picture and i like the repetition ofÂ
"A good day for a boat trip
at Ushuaia."
In my opinion, that line "makes" this poem x
