Boundless

Boundless

I took this photo of my gift horse Indy, and it inspired this poem

I see no wings upon your back
And still you leap as if to fly
Your not held down by what you lack
Grounded but you always try

Perhaps some ancient memory lies
Nestled in your heart and soul
Of canyons 'neath the bluest skies
Where running free just made you whole

I'd like to feel as free as you
Reaching far beyond these walls
Boundless in my point of view
A state of mind where freedom calls

If I could wear such feathered wings
And leap beyond this cage I've owned
I just might find my heart still singsĀ Ā
In echoed canyons you once roamed
