As Bluebirds Sing (an *Octogram poem)
Across the valley spring unfurls
As bluebirds sing
And sunlight drinks the dewy pearls
That morning brings
Upon this rocky mountain slope
I've carved a life that nurtures hope
Where falcons fly and stretch their wings
As bluebirds sing
And twilight beckons moonshine whirls
Into a fling
As fireflies gild the night in twirls
Fit for the spring
I say another hopeful prayer
About a life that I can share
Entwined with one who breaks life's sting
As bluebirds sing
