CHANGING MY REALITY

As I stand to shake fifty years of dust off my body

 I have finally climbed out of my grave

Where a child has been hiding for the last fifty years

Caught up in medical labels, lost and in pain

I know retribution rests in the palm of God’s hands

And, for everything that I have had to endure

The tables are turning this year in my favor

And as I think a little clearer, old habits slip to the floor

The medical labels that stared me in the face every day

Shows me how these perceptions can become such a crime

Fighting for life daily, for a lost past and future

Now, I'm in change, my thoughts and I won't be so blind

I know I was put on this earth for more than these reasons

God speaks to me daily, I know what I must do

I'll close the book on the past and rewrite my life story

Making sure these things will not happen again to me, or to you

A new story begins, and as the madness starts fading

I will stand up much taller, making this world my new home

And, as I brush the old dust off my tired aching body

I know God's angels will find me, and I won't walk alone….
