Bread Crumbs...

Bread Crumbs...

"The Breakfast Chronicles."

I don’t want to wait
for wealth,
for better health,
for you to think with more stealth;
for the end,
for another friend,
for you to comprehend;

I don’t want to wait
for a man,
for a future plan,
for our family van;
for bigger lips,
for sausage and chips,
for wider birthing hips;

I don’t want to wait
for nothing,
for one thing,
for at least something;
for a sign,
for more wine,
for the stars to align;

I don’t want to wait
for dread,
for crumbs of bread,
for you to love her instead;
for a stud,
for another dud,
for shoes not covered in mud;

I don’t want to wait
for bed,
for a rose so red,
for the cat to be fed;
for success,
for a new dress,
for someone to clean up this mess!

I don’t want to wait
for peace,
for a pay increase,
for a vacation to Greece;
for a better deal,
for a happier meal,
for something more real;

I don’t want to wait
for a new beginning,
for a chance at winning,
for a picture of you grinning;
for you,
for the flu,
for you to love me too...
