Bright, But Out Of Place

Bright, But Out Of Place

Bright, but out of place
in a soul-destroying world,
the poet retreats
into his own mind. If he
could just discover,
one meaningful connection,
that fits his purpose,
his life would be different.
He is withering,
Like a flower, in a town
of brutes and clowns. His
kind are easily ignored
and discarded, just
like litter on grey pavements.
