Brilliant and Bold

Brilliant and Bold

Today,
I learned something new.
My hair is red,
and my eyes are blue.

Or maybe they're green,
perhaps even grey.
It tends to differ
each and every day.

I've always thought
my hair was brown.
Just boring and dull
I wouldn't wear it down.

But now I see
the coppers and gold,
blazing like fire
brilliant and bold.

Now I let it flow
wild and free,
in bright silky waves
for all to see.

I was sitting getting my nails done the other day and the lady pointed out a little girls bright red hair next to me and commented on how beautiful and natural it was. Then she looked at my roots and asked if that was my natural and I said yes and then she told me it was the same. I'd never noticed my hair was that red till then! My eyes have always been blue but as I've gotten older they look grey and green at times. I'm glad you enjoyed! :)

Brilliant...bold...and, may I say, quite beautiful! And that's just the poem!!

A sweet, sensitive metaphor for self-discovery.

Utterly enchanting.

I'm glad you thought so! I thought of the first stanza before bed last night and decided to finish writing it today. This one came from a lady pointing out how naturally red my hair was the other day and it made me really excited, even though my hairdresser had pointed out tat I have a ton of red in my hair, and now I want to grow my hair back out in its natural color! I've been dying it for 7 odd years. It's the most natural now that it's ever been! Happy you enjoyed! :)

Ahh Lily...
All the Goddesses of Celtic mythology were red heads; beautiful and terrifying!!

I think I am both terrifying and possibly beautiful at times lol. My family on my dads side did emigrate here from Scotland in the...1700's I believe. I'm the only one in the family with red hair I think and oddly colored eyes.

Well! In your very own words:

Now[...]let it flow
wild and free,
in bright silky waves
for all to see.

Thank you! I think this is one of my favorites so far! I was really happy to find out I had red hair. It's the color I always wanted. I thought it was an ashy brown color but I haven't had enough of it showing for years to actually know it is red! Thank you! :)

When I was young I had extremely blonde hair, then dirty blond, then brown, then dyed excessively and now that I've discovered it's red I LOVE it!! I'm the single red head I believe in my family. Glad you enjoyed! :)
