Broken Marionette

Broken Marionette

Twist me and turn me
in the strings, I am ensnaredΒ
I've become undone at the seams
Unraveled layer by sorrowful layerΒ

Spark the gift of life in me
Yet you control me every day
I will never truly be set free
Lips stitched shut, nothing to sayΒ
Whatever it is to me you may

Falling apart, tangled in the broken shardsΒ
Masqueraded in shadow
You manipulate a broken marionette, until there's nothing left but a broken heartΒ
If only you should knowΒ

Playing a game on a melancholy stage
Until even my mind is not my own
My thoughts slowly fade
My tears turn to stoneΒ

My painted features flake away
Until I'm not as pretty as you wish I was
You'll forget I was here, lock me away in the dark one day
I'll become just an old doll you never thought much of

So twist and turn me
At least just for now
Until the day you won't need me to be
Until the day you've grown tired of me somehowΒ
