Broken promises

Broken promises

Heaven on earth

He promised it all

He wined and he dined

With words he enthralled

His voice was like velvet

Smooth cool and calm

Convinced by his lies

She fell for his charm

With a mouth full of bitterness

She tries to disguise

The hate that she feels

As he spins her more lies

Wanting to curse

She holds still her tongue

Love life in tatters

She fights to be strong

Tears sting her eyes

She waves him goodbye

Collapsed in a heap

She releases a cry

Anger takes over

Strength coming back

She goes to the bedroom

A suitcase to pack

Her dream now a nightmare

Her choices mistakes

She makes a decision

The cycle to break

She ponders a while

Her thoughts to take stock

She throws out his clothes

Changes the locks
