Poem -

Bubble Wrap

Your love wraps itself around me

Protecting me from danger

Shield of armor that time cannot outlast

We were young sitting by that fence

I picked you flowers

You tucked them behind your ear

Your mom called for supper

Mine, no worry as to where I was

I missed you

Sitting there, waiting there, for your

Return. I saw your white sundress

In the distance, the yellow flower in your hair

Barefoot touched the asphault,

as your head turned the other way

The pedals exploded

I rushed to your side as the truck screeched

You lay there, next to the pedals.

Just today, as I was biking

Through the streets of a town

I still recognize, a rain drop

Dared me to turn and go home.

I pedaled. Onward to face the storm.
