BUILDING ON QUICKSAND

BUILDING ON QUICKSAND

Why did my eyes behold you
Why did my hearts' door opened wide
Why did my mind conceived the notion
That its love I felt inside

I am but an ancient tree
Who's roots are exposed to the elements
And you are just a sapling
Filled with youth, excitement, and strength

The feelings that are haunting you
I've experienced a long, long time ago
It's like looking in the mirror, in the summer
And seeing the reflection of snow

What is your fascination
Help me! For my eyes are dim
My mind is caught up in a perplexed past
And my heart is woven with pain

O how I want to love you
And experience that freedom like the wind
But I am afraid our house of love will not stand
Because it's foundation is being poured
On Quicksand.
