BULLET PROOF VEST TESTER

Occurred in the East Midlands I think Leicester
A new job advertised for a bullet proof vest tester
The rates of pay were a shilling for every shot
In the year of 1903 this was considered a lot

A man would shoot from about 12 yards or so
When he was done another man would have a go
If the vest was working properly all was well
Should it fail though disaster would soon befell

I took this job and prayed I'd get through the day
Didn't want any misfortune to come my way
Two shots fired and I'm still standing proud
Nobody told me the shots would be really loud
