Wind up Girl

Wind-up girl…
Little chameleon, little liar,
Warranting attention
When someone desires.
She withers beneath winter’s snow,
Blinded by doubt,
Strangled in woe—
Seeking love in abstract form,
She dons a cloak for every storm.
Her mask displayed in grand ballet—
So when she comes naked,
No one stays.

She is liar, chameleon,
Actress divine.
Whore of shame.
Goddess. Swine.
Bitch for blame.
And demon.

Twirling high on borrowed esteem,
She implants herself in a tin foil dream.
Ask her name—she cannot say.
She’s been too many,
And none stayed.

Writer. Daughter. Lover. Wife.
Witch. Believer. Caretaker of strife.
Whore. Slut. Silent adept.
Selfish little girl with rants unkept.

The hand of good.
The wrath of God.
The karma queen
Of all gone wrong.

Wind-up girl…
Little liar. Chameleon.
Goddess to some—
To others, demon.
