Butter lips. (scots)

Butter lips. (scots)

In thae days o old

Or sae I hae been told

They'd put butter on a bairns lips

This was meant tae stop

Yon faeries bein on top

Tae steal bairns breath in sips

Now tak that as ye may

They dinae dae it the day

Perhaps twas jist auld wifies tale

But when I keek at folk these days

They aye seem tae be in a daze

An their skin sae afee pale.
