Caged Valor

Like a panther in a cage
One can only hypothesize
As to why the slave, paces
In his mind's knighthood
While the blood in the sand
He ceaselessly delivers
Leads to nowhere
But man's dream-like refrain
When you attempt to traverse
Masculine disdain...
Like distance, into deep space itself
You cannot impress
Upon the cultural
And the seemingly
Limitless
Valor, of inspired
Intent
While remaining nobly
Lugubrious....
Two points, for a strike
To the chest,
An enigmatic strength
This jousting, manifesting a manner
Of glaring unrest
When one's nobility
Is put to the test
And the Love
Of life's " Damsel In Distress"
Is on
The damn line,
And inevitably defines
One man's ever-vision
Of his life's work
And self respect...

My Dear Brother Poet Tony,
The powerful panther who has run freely through the wilds for so long, now must learn to "tiptoe through the tulips". The wild beast in him yearns for the limitless horizons. Yet, he realizes that he has found the place where his happiness has far surpassed any he has ever known. Some days he is calm and revels in his new lair. But others, his primitive instincts take over and he hungers for that which was. But fortunately, the days of the former are beginning to supersede those of the latter. Now, with each new moon, our placated panther reedits his opus, realizing the dichotomy of his "Damsel in Distress".
Peace, Love and Rockets,
Larry xxx
