The Call

The Call

I lie in bed and think too much, wondering what my life could be.

If it had not happened, I could have been a different me.

Maybe I’d be better, maybe I’d be full of glee.

But these are distant fantasies as I’ll be what I’ll always be.

You may say that life gets better or others are worse off.

But my problems make me indifferent and my mind is far too soft.

I can see a path that I’m scared of, that I pray I never take.

However prayer may not help me if my call he does not take.

Just maybe I’ll take a step to wherever it may lead.

I’ll cry before I take it because I fear hurting what I leave.

I simply want life’s few pleasures not even a constant dream.

Yet I will always pray that my life is not what it always seems.
