CAN YOU HEAR ME

Shouting as loud as I can 
With screams from the bedrock of my heart 
The need to be rescued
From this drought of loneliness 

Such unbearable solitary confinement 
Caused by the deception of the one I loved 
The apple of my eyes and the life of my soul 
Has left me blinded with tears of sadness 
And pierced through the heart with the dagger of deceit 

I am like a ghost in a crowded room 
Unseen and hollow on the inside 
A foreigner to the language of my birth
Overwhelmed and consumed by the inability to love 
Because of the excruciating pain that never ceases 

But can you hear me 
Am I so distant from you heart of compassion 
Or your mind of reasoning 
That you will not turn or look in my direction 
O, that I may hear the voice of affection 
Or a word of encouragement 
To salvage my wounded soul 

Where are the righteous ones 
Is there a god who delivers 
Who can I turn to in my darkest hour 
How can I escape this sentence of death 
Caused by the one I'd pledged my forever to
