Cannon Fodder

The arrogant engineer sent out his assistant
without instructions, other than to 'just look busy'
and the assistant took his assistant with him
complaining as they traveled the long distance
how ridiculousย it was that heย wasn't given a mission.
He walked around, feeling his time was wasting
inside the grounds of anย abandoned army fortress
clueless, but doing his best to just 'look busy'
When the arrogant engineer finally came
he was pleased to see,
the assistant had listened well to his instructions
now, the assistant pressed him again for the reason
and the arrogant engineer asked himย if he knew
about the great British general Wellington,
Wellington, he explained, sent his least important
soldiers, to the front of the battle, as cannon fodder,
then waited, till the enemy used up ammunition
before he would arrive himself.
This saying had the assistant feeling very insulted
knowing that the arrogant engineer
was putting him down.
But the assistant's assistant suddenly interjected
telling the assistant that he should not feel insulted
because as his assistant, he was nothing more than a horse
through the eyes of the arrogant engineer

hey sis, this write really happened, almost exactly as it is written, lol and I was the horse, I worked for a guy who thought he was Wellington, the most arrogant human being I've ever come across....don't think I could've made this one up, thanks for reading, and I didn't know Wellington thought that the poor were 'The scum of the earth' a good general in his time but he wouldn'tย have madeย a good Nobel prize candidate, cheers and thanks for a great comment ย ย

well doneย Christopher C
cheers mark!!
Hi Christopher,
Could that be the hidden reason that "Beef Wellington" is always served in a secure crust?ย Could it stand for how he surrounded himself with human shields before arriving?ย You have "engineered" a very thought provoking write.ย Well done.
Peace and Love,
xox Larry
