Can't Unload a Smoking Gun
An ode to wartime media & ruthless leaders
The TV holds my empty stare,
I'll start a revolution from my chair,
The newsman's voice invades my head,
With another story of a soldier dead,
You can't unload a smoking gun,
Yet another mother mourns a son,
It'll soon be over the liar cried,
Another seal of fate denied.
There are no rules in their game,
Though the outcome is always the same,
I'm just a pawn without shame,Β
I just take aim,
The same old story again,
I book my place in kingdom come,
Said the politician, thy will be done,
Time commits my name to dust,
I'm just a headline of media lust,
Just crazy minds of bad design,
Without souls or faith,
There are no rules in their game,
The outcome remains the same,
Yet another mother mourns a son,
You can't unload a smoking Gun.

I love these lines in the poem. I will definitely read more of your work x
Thank you so much, "Can't unload a Smoking gun" was a song of mine but I always thought it should have been a poem.
All other poems were written over the last three days. Poetry is very new to me so all feedback is welcome.
