Poem -

Canyons

I have canyons in my heart.
Bottomless and wide.
I am much more than I appear to be.
I can be so deep there is no foundation.
It's a perpetual pit of my soul.
I do not let anyone see.
Even I have yet to contact the bottom.

I have canyons in my skin.
When I smile you can see them.
They snake and bend.
Into a beautiful half moon.
I love them now.
I hated them then.

I have canyons in my eyes.
A deep dirty hickory brown that reaches up for the imperfect branches.
And clasps the hazy white chocolate sky.
A brown eyed little girl.
That sees a deep rooted meaning to
The word life.

I have canyons in my Brain
Reminding me of the swirls the day has in store for me.
To and fro it takes me
On journeys that only
I can create.
Opening my eyes like stain glass church windows
Letting the light inside my frosted baby blue veins.
And accepting myself
For who I have come to be.

-I am a Grand Canyon sculpted by god himself.
