CAREFUL PLANNING (LEFT BEHIND)

The holiday essentials have all been ticked  
All the right clothes have been duly picked 
My case is full no room for anything more  
A week in Holland will be delightful I'm sure 

Passport at the ready we are on the way 
Nothing can go wrong I'm sure it's safe to say 
Spoke too soon and I'm afraid something did  
We left behind our charming seven year old kid 

How did it happen I'm sorry but I don't know 
All that careful planning therefore was just for show
