~~Carnival
when the night falls down on the island paradise
Tales of the supernatural come to life at carnival
While the masses gather for the fete, of liberation
A sweet blooded Carib Queen from ancient times
Stirs the murky Sargasso Sea (it is said)
The blood of mortal men eases her misery
and she leaves no footprints on the sand;
strolling free and easy tan and comely
Boys with bulging eyes and excited voices
Tell how she looks sweet as a moonbeam;
Searching for seashells, always glancing up
and thirsty for the salty blood of living men
.
One man shares his story for the tourists;
rum sprays from his breath as he speaks;
'many screaming women, came from her lips;
And a cool wind took her wild raven hair to flight
as the stars fell like a thousand feathers when we made love'
he lifts his shirt, declaring his numberless scares
‘She had a hallow smile with far away ‘Jumbie eyes’’
And the waves lapped whenever she cried out;
Don’t walk alone in the nights of Carnival
Unless you want her to sting you with bites'
Then the falling coins clash staccato in his tin can
Though his thoughts were lost on the Carib Queen

Thanks for saying that me mate, I like reading weird and unusual stories, including the supernatural ones, in Trinidad as a boy I still remember the newspapers running so called 'ghost stories' every Sunday and reading them religiously...this odd tale must come from that time, school boys wanting to scare one another; in the days when you could scare with those kind of stories, mostly because we knew these tales (for most part) were not made up, lol...this one was def. made up though...thanks for comment, bro.
Wow you definitely are creative and imaginative and interesting writer.
Shirley I offer you a virtual hug, this write I wrote on a dare wanting to capture something of the Canival spirit of Trinidad; my version lol...I really do appreciate your comment
