Catch Me

Words come to me
When I am relaxing
Or drifting off to sleep
I am calm
I am still
And able to concentrate
Words drift out
Before I can even
Think about rescuing them
I have to retrace my steps
Go back word by word
In order to recite
What I have almost lost
Here they are
Staring back at me
With something new to say:
Like 19 Pin it 5"Put me down on ink
The old fashioned way
In black and white
And I shall stay
My words are for reading
I am here to portray
I create wonder
When you put me
In the right order
Treat me well
I am your friend
And I will stay
On your page
Throughout
Time and Age"

I love how you presented this...in effect, a poem about a poem.
It is always a wise idea to write down words ... there have been times I have woken up with a great and memorable line and because I failed to write it down (because I was sure I would remember it) it has vanished into thin air and dissipated forever.Β
You have written this sooo well x
Yes I guess you could say that a poem about a poem!! Thank you for the comments and pin ?. Good to know I'm not the only one that this happens to!!
You've transposed my thoughts into poetry. A great write.
? fabulous!! Thanks for liking and stars x
I love the arrangement Pratibha..
Happens to me all the time..
But somehow we manage to gather the pieces together.
Well done my friend.
Thanks Wilford. I knew how I wanted to lay it out once it was written ?
Pratibha this is beautiful truly wonderful.Β Well done.Β I love this. So lyrical. Pinned and starred xΒ
Thanks saf and for pin. So glad you liked it xxx
Hello PRATIBHA!!...this is so VERY clever.....I write every single one of my poems by hand into notebooks first.....and then put them on line after some editing...β¦.it's such a great habit for me personally.....I must have 20 notebooks filled with writings and scribblings......I love the poetic advice you've offered up here!!β¦..ALL STARS!!β¦.well done dear poet sister!!β¦.LOVE & ROCKETS!!β¦β¦.T xoΒ : )
Thank you very much Tony. Most appreciative coming from the king of surrealism fantasy ?
I also have always written in my book. It's the best way. Cos I wrote for me first then it became more enjoyable, I wrote a poem about that too lol. Still got my books too... the old fashioned way ? x
I very much enjoyed this poem Pratibha, the writing process for me is quite similar. If I think of decent line or rhyme then it has to be written immediately or it is lost forever. This poem flows really well.
Take care - SydΒ
Thank you Sid for your comments. Glad you liked and feel the same when writing. It is a process.Β
Lovely flowing read ??
Thank you Chris for like and stars ?
Love this...can relate. This I exactly how it happens for me also....the words are just there in my head and I have to get them down. Sometimes it's months before I go back and rearrange them but if I don't catch them instantly they never come back...a beautiful way of putting it ?
Thank you Marion for comments and the stars. So good to know you can relate to it, you are a brilliant writer. Writing is an art form, creativity comes whenever xxx

Thank you very much for the comments you are too kind. Thanks for the stars and pin most appreciative ?
You have depicted in a lovely manner the sweet but desperate times when thoughts come from sleep, or just when we're not expecting them, and we're trying to rush to get them down though exhausted. I also really like how you're appreciating the physical art of writing- paper and ink
Thank you kindly to the lovely comments and pin. Yes I have always wrote on paper and still do ?
