A Chance Encounter

We met at the banquet, thus fate kissed fate; and evermore
Cupid’s smile. I was haunted by such wit—a magnet pearl;
And such eyes—web the soul. She foreknew the night—
To fashion bliss. The moon touched the skyline: the stars
Scraped earth. We swooned—our conversation. I was so
Alert—to magnify kismet. She spoke of dreams, and quoted
Prose. Such intimidation! Lotusland was nigh our grasp;
And breath—a grackle’s cry. We merged, a gentle caress:
Our hearts—a marathon. And such curly mane—a scented
Bliss. Our wildfire, a tender tug; and depth the soul, a silent
Face. We panic’d—a rising sun—inclined to cast a veil. For
Kef-ic night—the spell of love; and fear—the light— the
Rays of pain. And thus, the rose, a torn goodbye; and fatedÂ
Love, ascended high.
