Change

Change

I can only give you my advice,

I can only try to lead you -

Toward a path of doing what is right,

But its you who must agree to -

Change all of the bad habits that have changed the man you were.

That pure and innocent young soul is now a lost and lonely blur.

Faith and strength together can defeat the darkest days.

Envision a new future and stop circling through this maze -

Of endless twists and turns that lead you right back to square one,

Hurting those around you - Please remember, you're a SON.

Stop hiding from reality, it's time to stand up to your fears.

Minutes turn to hours and those hours have become years.

I pray you'll take a step forward and allow God to walk you through.

But, God helps those who help themselves, and there's nothing left that I can do.

There are some lovely turns of phrase here; chief amongst them, the above quoted.

I also like the last line...there comes a point when you've reached the limit of what you can do for someone; and, regardless of how much you love them, you have to let them find their own way back to the world...and back to you.
Sorry for mumbling...you say it much better with this poem.

Lovely!

Thanks so much, J. I love your feedback. I wrote this one pretty quickly, as the words came to me. Thanks for reading :)
