Chasing A Dream
Sleep finds you at last,
Gently you fold into its grasp,
You find yourself in a place unknown,
Yet in this place you are not alone.
Everyone you miss is here,
Arms extended in welcoming
Tears of joy escape as you run into arms open wide.
This is your heaven,
The place you've needed to find for so long,
It does not feel like a dream, It is all too real.
Suddenly you see everyone and everything fading,
You scream and cry not knowing what to do,
So you run as hard as you can,
To the one’s you need to be true.
Chasing a dream as it begins to dissipate,
Knowing nothing will ever be the same,
Suddenly you are all alone,
Trying to hold on to any bit of the dream,
Still refusing to believe it isn't reality.
The emptiness kicks in like a punch to the stomach
The reality of it all,
You cry and scream out in vain,
Then you awaken with that scream on your tongue
Knowing nothing will ever be the same.
You were simply chasing a dream.
