Poem -

CHEERS!

CHEERS!

Come then, my friends
When the long day is done
As the clock boasts of midnight
And lonely sips on its rum

Come then, oh ghosts
Of a life travelled long
Shout of your grievance
Sing loud of your song

For your presence weighs heavy
In the silence of night
When I cannot flee you

Nor can ever put right

And regret holds me sleepless
In shames howling screech
And forgiveness just laughs
Floats on by, out of reach

So come then, lost hearts
Let us toast on my tears
And feast on the misery

Of my black past and deeds.
To Regret
Cheers!
