Cherry blossoms

The ephemeral, fickle life
taught by a country childhood
those daffodils on a frosty morn
primrose colours adorned
the fertile ground
under cherry blossom trees.
Spring lambs did play
around the meadow
as the hedgehog rose from slumber
I saw the robin's morning dance
on cherry blossom branches.
The morning dew was soon to dry
as summer rain heralded life anew
bluebells, foxgloves and buttercups danced
underneath the cherry blossoms.
Those autumn rays amongst the gold
as swallows flew away
grey squirrels took stock
amongst mighty oaks
as the cherry blossoms fell.
All was bereft in November grey
the dark before the dawn
though bare I saw its humble strength
that wonderful cherry blossom.
