Chimera

Chimera

Patience lastsΒ
never it seems.
Forever I'm cast
chasing a dream.

Wanderlust holds
hostage my soul,
walk amongst ruins
abandoned
long ago.

Remnants of things
once fresh with delight,
now litter my being,
now fill me with fright.

Escape to a future,
vivid with hope,
I arrive exhausted,
yet somehow I cope.

I leave behind
the refuse
I thought,
once promising
beginnings,Β
dreams
finally caught.

So I chaseΒ
the dream,
carrot and stick,
chase the future,
this pony's
one trick.

Days I dream
to catch the shadow,
and find some rest,
in a peaceful
green meadow.

I dream to dream,
artifacts of my past,
gone I dream,
so long gone
at last.
